Dabbagul – Delivering Home Cooked meals to Gurgaon Corporates

“Food tastes better when eaten with family”

In this fast paced world today when most of us live away from home, we are forced to make do with takeout and any outlet that “promises” to deliver within a 30-min period.

For all the people in Gurgaon who were longing for home cooked food, Dabbagul has now become their knight in shining armour. They deliver home cooked meals on demand to hungry executives in Gurgaon. Available today on PlayStore, the app Dabbagul allows locals to place an order for a freshly cooked, no-preservatives homemade lunch or dinner(to be rolled out soon) with a daily menu – much like the Dabba mom made for us in school.

Though at first glance they may seem similar to other food-tech startups out there, they differentiate themselves from the herd by simplifying the order process and rolling out subscription models.

A simple 3-step process, Dabbagul allows users to order a home cooked meal in the Gurgaon area including DLF Phase -1, 2,3,4,5, Cyber City, MG Road, Golf Course Road etc. Users have the option of ordering a meal just for the day or subscribing for an entire week, fortnight or month. “It’s this subscription option that makes us so unique. Once someone has tried the food our chefs are putting out, they can just automate the process. Not only does it save them the trouble of having to remember to order a meal daily, it also saves the time and angst spent wondering what to order and from where! While most Apps want users to login daily and spend as much time on the App as possible, we’re doing exactly the reverse. We want people to spend their lunch hour, enjoying their food, not planning what to eat,” says Dabbagul co-founder Jayashree Patil.

They provide a hassle free ordering experience. Users can order lunch or dinner, choose the cuisine of their preference (only Indian available right now), select a time slot for when the meal should be delivered and pay COD. The meal is freshly cooked the same day and arrives in hygienically packaged microwavable boxes. A little less love than what your mum packed, but equally nutritious and delicious.

Elaborating on their USP – the weekly/monthly subscription option the CEO explains, “The subscription model in addition to being convenient for a user also helps us bring the delivery costs down since we can optimize and plan the routes beforehand. It also increases the lifetime customer value which is currently fickle in food tech propagated by the deep discounting culture and umpteen food apps.”

The whole process of acquiring a meal for lunchtime has become tedious what with carbohydrate laden fast food being the primary option for an entire community of white collar workers, and Dabbagul aims to change that.

The startup that recently celebrated 500 downloads in the last two months, picks the chefs carefully to keep the quality of their food consistent. Also, always looking to continuously grow, they are working on rolling out “I am on a diet” options for the health conscious where they can select low calorie foods like salads, Poha and Upma.

The response has been quite positive for them, with customers giving raving feedback on social media and some even asking them to extend their service to other cities.

Well, we hope their brand grows by leaps and bounds and becomes a front runner in home-cooked food delivery segment.
